What Powers the Performance of Backblaze Backblaze Senior Vice President of Engineering Tina Cessna debuts on the Backblaze Blog with this introduction to a series of posts showcasing the platform-level work her team has been doing to build and run a modern cloud storage platform: "The kind of work that usually stays buried in Jira tickets and internal docs, but that makes all the difference when you're serving exabytes at scale."   Check It Out → Backblaze B2's Scalable Application Keys Wins NAB Show 2025 Product of the Year Last October, we announced Scalable Application Keys, a new capability that enables you to generate Backblaze B2 Application Keys at up to 10,000 keys per minute, 150 times the previous rate. Scalable Application Keys allows you to provision each device or endpoint that's accessing your Backblaze B2 buckets with its own short-lived application key, enhancing security without compromising functionality. Last week in Las Vegas the judges for the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show Product of the Year Awards recognized Scalable Application Keys for media & entertainment use cases, awarding Backblaze a coveted Product of the Year Award in the Cloud Computing and Storage category.   Read All About It→ New IPv4 Address Range We are adding a sixth address range to the list of ranges for Backblaze services: 207.166.148.0/22. Be ready to have your brain stretched!   Watch the Recording → Escaping Egress: Hidden Cloud Fees Every CFO Should Know Talking to customers and prospects about cloud object storage costs, it's often data transfer charges, particularly egress fees, that dominate the conversation, rather than storage cost itself. For many organisations, storage costs are fairly predictable, and relatively easy to calculate, as long as your vendor offers transparent pricing. Egress fees, on the other hand, can be highly variable, and punishingly expensive if you are locked into a provider such as AWS.
