As 2022 draws to a close, I am reaching out with a message of thanks for being part of what makes Backblaze great.
As 2022 comes to a close, I am so impressed by everything our customers and our team achieved this year. The past 12 months have presented some challenges for everyone, but we have also accomplished so much together. As I took a moment to reflect on all of this, I wanted to share some of those accomplishments with you all:
First, developers are building incredible things on our platform. This year, nine of our top 20 customers are using Backblaze B2 for application storage—companies ranging from an e-commerce platform empowering artists to share and sell their work, to a threat analysiscompany working to rid the web of malicious content.
We completed the largest deal in the history of our business: ~$1 million for B2 Cloud Storage—one of the reasons Backblaze B2 had a 48% growth rate as of our last earnings call.
Our team launched a number of new features, services, and infrastructure to empower our customers: Cloud Replication to automatically keep customer data in multiple regions; B2 Reserve to enable customers to purchase cloud storage at fixed capacity pricing; Universal Data Migration to help customers bring their data into our Storage Cloud from wherever it is now; and we launched new, exabyte-capacity datacenters and a new US East region to house all the data flowing in.
For our partners, along with B2 Reserve, we launched a new Partner Program,Partner Portal, andPartner APIto make it even easier to bring Backblaze products to a far broader audience.
We were excited to add thousands of new Computer Backup customers to the Backblaze family, ensuring that many more businesses and individuals can check "data loss" and "ransomware disaster" off of their list of year-end worries. And, we welcomed these folks by updating our backup application with Version 8.5 and mobile app with Version 6.0.
And hardly least, in November, we notched one year since becoming a public company. Going public has meant we can invest more in delivering astonishingly easy cloud storage for you to store, protect, and use your data. It's been such a powerful advancement for us that I wrote about why the IPO is something more business leaders should be considering.
It's been a busy year, but it's important to acknowledge that we couldn't have done any of this without our community of team members, customers, partners, investors, friends, and fans. Looking back on all we've achieved together this year, I'm excited for 2023 and the opportunities for all of us—our company, industry, and all of you alike.
